17 best Instagram locations on Lanzarote

Where to take the perfect picture

If you’re into Instagram and want to share your holiday experiences, you’ll need to know the best places on Lanzarote for the perfect Instagram photo.

Lanzarote is an all year-round location. So, whatever the time of year you travel, there’s plenty to photograph. Remember, the weather changes very quickly. Be prepared for fog and clouds in the morning to be replaced by intense sunshine and strong winds an hour or so later.

Many of the Club Las Calas team are regular Instagram posters, so we asked them for their top locations.

1 Timanfaya National Park

THE place for volcanoes, craters and lava field photos. It really is a landscape like no other. You can only enter by bus, unless you take one of the limited ranger walks.

2 Mirador del Rio

This famous viewpoint over to the nearby island of La Graciosa was created by Cesar Manrique in 1974 on an escarpment called Bateria del Rio.

3 Caleta del Mojon Blanco

One of the least known beaches in the north of the island with white sand and black rocks near Orzola.

4 Famara beach and cliff

Head to the west coast of the island for the most amazing beach, big waves, surfing and sand dunes. Famara cliff which rises 672m has amazing views. It’s a great location for sunset photos, but be careful with the tides.

5 Jameos del Agua

Another of Cesar Manrique’s masterpieces transforming the volcanic landscape into an arts and cultural centre with a turquoise pool, lush gardens and auditorium. This place is seriously Instagram heaven.

6 Los Hervidores

Amazing coastal rock formations created by volcanic lava and battered every day by fierce Atlantic Ocean waves. Be careful when you’re taking selfies as it gets windy up there.

7 La Geria

Lanzarote’s unique wine region where the vines are planted in little craters of black rock and protected from the strong winds by rock walls.

8 Puerto del Carmen Old Town harbour

There are plenty of picturesque photo opportunities in and around the old town harbour. You’ll find a great spot with a wonderful view on the cliff top trail.

9 Cactus Garden

One of Cesar Manrique’s projects, the cactus garden has over 1,500 species of cactus and plenty of photo opportunities.

10 The Green Caves

Considered one of the most iconic locations on Lanzarote, the caves were created by cooling volcanic lava. You can walk through the tunnels and tubes with a guide.

11 Teguise

If you like traditional architecture with lots of white houses, green shutters and side streets, then head to Teguise, the old capital of the island.

12 Papagayo Beach

One of a range of secluded, sandy beaches on the southern part of Lanzarote near Playa Blanca.

13 Femes viewpoint

This offers spectacular views over Playa Blanca and the sea and is a great place for sunset shots.

14 El Golfo and the Green Lagoon

The famous green lagoon, black sand beach and red landscape can shot from a viewing point from the El Golfo side of the beach.

15 Road from Soo to Famara

An amazing landscape shot with the cliffs, the village in the distance and, normally, an empty road.

16 Montana Cuervo

Located outside Timanfaya National Park, you can walk around the full caldera with fantastic views of nearby volcanoes.

17 Beach sunsets

Wherever you are staying, there will be plenty of opportunities for some amazing sunset shots.
