Our recommendations of what to do
The capital of Lanzarote is set to come alive for the next two weeks with the annual Arrecife Carnival. This event kicks off the island’s carnival season and runs from February 22 to March 9. It’s a great way for guests to experience a grand parade and a night of fiesta along side island’s residents.
Arrecife carnival is dedicated to artist and architect Cesar Manrique who had such a huge influence on the island. This year, Lanzarote is celebrating as 2019 marks 100 years since his birth. The images on the carnival poster represent a mask created by Manrique in 1987.
There are several events organised for the Arrecife Carnival with a programme of events for all audiences. Carnaval Porteño, Piñata Saturday and Tapas Fair, Orishas concert, the rhythm of Mikel Erentxu and the street theatre of Israel Reyes. The main parade takes place on Monday, March 4.
